National Simultaneous Storytime 2026 - Luna Roo

We’re joining millions of readers across Australia!

This year our service is taking part in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS), a nationwide event run by the Australian Library and Information Association. Each year, a picture book by an Australian author is read at the exact same time in schools, libraries, childcare centres, homes and communities across the country.

It’s all about:

  • Celebrating reading and literacy

  • Sharing the joy of books

  • Highlighting Australian authors and illustrators

  • Bringing families and communities together

This year’s book: Luna Roo

Rookie captain Luna Roo leads FC Outback into a high?energy match against Bush United — complete with a spider goalkeeper, snakes in attack and some serious pre?game nerves.

Written by football veterans Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, Luna Roo is full of excitement and heart, reminding children that courage and determination make a winning team.

As NSS panel member Kellie John shared, the story captures “the spirit of rising to a challenge with heart and grit… a powerful celebration of courage, self-belief and pushing through when things get tough.”

Join us at 10am

We’ll be heading to the library to read Luna Roo simultaneously with nearly 2 million people across Australia — a wonderful shared moment of literacy, fun and community.
